Star Ingredients - CARNOSINE

CARNOSINE

Carnosine is a dipeptide naturally present in the body, composed of β-alanine and L-histidine, recognized for its essential role in cell protection and defense against oxidative stress. In dermocosmetics, it is valued for its biomimetic affinity: the skin recognizes it as an endogenous molecule, which optimizes its tolerance and efficacy.

Its main action is based on its anti-glycation activity, a key mechanism of aging where sugars stiffen collagen fibers by forming AGEs (advanced glycation end products). Carnosine traps these reactive sugars and aldehydes, preserving supple and functional fibers.

It also exerts a powerful antioxidant activity, neutralizing free radicals and limiting the activation of enzymes responsible for the degradation of collagen and elastin. Simultaneously, it protects mitochondria, reducing the production of reactive oxygen species (ROS) and supporting the vitality of fibroblasts, essential for the firmness and density of the dermis.

Finally, carnosine acts as a metal chelator, limits lipid peroxidation and protects the skin against the entire light spectrum (UVA, UVB, infrared, blue light), making it a versatile ingredient to prevent and correct wrinkles, loss of firmness, dull skin and environmental damage.
