Star Ingredients - Squalane

Squalane

Squalane is a biomimetic lipid derived from squalene, a natural component of human sebum known for its role in skin elasticity, protection, and resilience. Because squalene is chemically unstable and easily oxidized, it has been hydrogenated to obtain squalane, a saturated, stable form that is highly compatible with skin physiology.

Thanks to its structure, which is similar to sebaceous lipids, squalane integrates directly into the lipid matrix of the stratum corneum, helping to restore the continuity of the skin's structure and reduce transepidermal water loss (TEWL).

This ingredient provides an optimal amount of functional lipids, improving hydration, softness, and skin barrier recovery without any occlusive effect. Its low viscosity and dry touch allow for even diffusion into the superficial layers of the epidermis, offering ideal sensory comfort for daily use. Simultaneously, squalane helps protect the lipid environment from oxidation while acting as a lipid carrier to enhance the bioavailability of the ingredients.
